Jezebel's Table - Call to Pray

As we launched our special prayer watch for the next generations, (natural and spiritual) the Lord began to speak to us about Jezebel’s table. Under King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, the crown sustained the priesthood of Baal and Ashtoreth. The false prophets were fed at Jezebel’s’ table, paid for by the taxpayers, and likely, corporate sponsors as well! (1 Kings 18:17-19)

 Jezebels table

Under Baal worship, marriages and children were destroyed by prostitution and child sacrifice. Idolatry always slides to sexual sin, perversion, and bloodshed.

As natural and spiritual mothers and fathers, are we perturbed enough to do something about our taxes, and purchases from big corporations, being used to sponsor the demise of our children and grandchildren? Will we at least commit to pray like Elijah did (James 5:17-18)?

Before Elijah restored the altar of the Lord, he was sent to Jezebel’s hometown to look after a widow and her fatherless boy. Imagine that—Elijah had to go to the very root system of the idolatry. He discovered the extent and vileness of it. The Lord is revealing and sending us in prayer, to the root system of Baal worship in our culture. Everything not planted by the heavenly Father shall be uprooted.

Elijah had to raise the boy from the dead. Elijah's mantle brought hope and life to a widow and son who had been devastated within the root system of Baal worship.

The Spirit of the Lord is calling us to bring life to fatherless children first through deep prayer, repentance and travail. Who knows what God will do as we respond to His call? The Lord will grant us all, in different ways, the opportunity to;

  • Challenge Baal worshippers and rebuild the altar of true worship
  • Connect with, and be fathers and mothers to the next generations.

Who feeds at Jezebels table? False prophets. They are those who serve, and are advocates of Baal. They turn hearts away from Yahweh, and then, from parents. Are we not witnessing a tsunami of wickedness in our culture? Do we not see proxies or prophets serving in schools, governments, corporations, institutions, hospitals, media, entertainment and some homes to rob, kill, destroy and devour children of all ages? Are these evil representatives being propped up and sponsored by taxes and corporations? And are these the ones now feeding and prophesying to our children and grandchildren, and telling them how to live?

Generations being fed at Jezebel’s table are malnourished. Their diet is nothing but a sugary feast. In prayer I saw plates of fairy floss and junk food!

Having drastically researched food while changing our diet, I have discovered that sugar acts like poison in our bodies. Combined with bad fats, sugar creates all kinds of diseases and health issues; insulin resistance, diabetes, heart disease, rotting teeth and much more. The fast food industry make mega bucks while they feed us poison! Many lives are lost because of what of the spiritual and emotional diet being served up at Jezebels table.

Paul warns the Corinthian church, and us, not to copy Israel’s slide into idolatry. The situation is plain and stark.

20 what the pagans sacrifice is to demons and not to God, 21 You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? (1 Corinthians 10:20-22)

We either eat junk food that kills us, or we feed at the table of the Lord that brings life. In the natural you cannot eat junk food for days, and then have one healthy meal and expect it to fix our bodies. Having changed our diet, I know it takes great discipline and hard work to eliminate sugar from our diet and body.

The Spirit of God is breathing on the Elijah mantle right now because this is an extremely serious situation. Officially sanctioned offerings to Baal, Ishtar and Asherah, are in our generation, the push for sexual activity, and gender reorientation in children. Laws and practices that enable this are effectively offerings on the demonic altar.

While at the recent Elijah Summit at Mt Carmel, we were told of a vision the Lord gave Rick Ridings from Succat Hallel. Rick saw a snake had devoured a whole generation, and its belly was engorged full of the generation it had swallowed. He then saw a giant eagle swoop down, pick up the snake and break it apart in the air, and a whole generation was rescued.

This vision gives great hope, and encouragement. It is also a vision that issues a challenge to contend for our natural and spiritual children and grandchildren.

One of the speakers at Mt Carmel shared the conviction to lay aside all other ministry, and pray for his children. He then shared the miracle that followed. For many, many months, something similar had been stirring in my heart. I kept witnessing family after family being devastated by relationship breakdowns between parents and children, mental health issues in young people, many unable to find a marriage partner, prodigals walking away form the Lord, and the list goes on. As the personal stories about the eagle rescue and the call to prayer of this prayer leader, I felt a strong confirmation of what had been stirring in my heart.

The Lord is calling us to arise and contend in prayer as never before. We must allow the Lord to do the work in our own hearts, to heal disappointment, grief and even unbelief. As we press into Him, may we not just feel His burden for those consumed by the snake, but look up and partner with the divine eagle. God seeks out those who will partner with Him to watch over His word until it is fulfilled.

Elijah gave the word; there would be no rain. It was a word that challenged Baal, the god of fertility and storms. The people sacrificed to Ball to give rain for their crops. This word was an exposure of Baal. But Elijah didn’t just give the word. James tells us what Elijah did; Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit” (James 5:17-18)

Elijah gave the word, but did not just leave it and wait. Elijah continued to pray it into existence. He watched over the word he had given. It was a dangerous word to give. It was in effect, declaring to Ahab and Jezebel that Baal is impotent. Baal is the god of fertility and storms. Baal worshippers offered sacrifices to ensure there was rain for crops! Declaring no rain was issuing a challenge. In the climate of the crown being proponents and sponsors of Baal—this was a serious word to give!

While Elijah continued to pray for no rain, the Lord was training him to rely on God’s provisions, and training him to be a father.

The Lord was preparing Elijah for the moment when he would give the word to Israel to make their choice. “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” (1 Kings 18:21) Israel was trying to eat at both Jezebels table and the table of the Lord. It cannot be done. We might try. But it will not succeed.

As we come to contend for the generation to be freed from the belly of the snake, let us pray they become dissatisfied with sugary treats. Pray they will push their chairs away from Jezebels table and run to the table of the Lord as they search for real food.

It is easy to sing the song ‘These are the days of Elijah’, much harder to live it out. The Gentile Bible finishes with Malachi 4. Before speaking of Elijah restoring parents and children, Malachi begins with a statement about the day of the Lord where evil meets the fire of God. We are in that season of a seismic clash in the spirit realm. We must win the battle in the Spirit first.

We can talk, and try to fix situations, until we are exhausted, or blue in the face. We can attempt to reconcile, give counsel, set up church programs and re-structure to unite the generations, BUT this is a spiritual battle. It must be won in PRAYER first!

What will you fast to pray for the generations?
Activity (even good activity). Junk food?

  • Let us pray our generations will flee from Jezebel’s table, and run to the table of Lord.
  • Pray our generations will taste and see that the Lord is good.
  • Let us pray the anointing of the Spirit of the Lord according to Isaiah 61; “To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who arebound… 4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations.” (Isaiah 61:1 – 4)
