Jezebel's Table - Call to Pray

As we launched our special prayer watch for the next generations, (natural and spiritual) the Lord began to speak to us about Jezebel’s table. Under King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, the crown sustained the priesthood of Baal and Ashtoreth. The false prophets were fed at Jezebel’s’ table, paid for by the taxpayers, and likely, corporate sponsors as well! (1 Kings 18:17-19)

END-TIME BATTLE OF THE BANDS

During February 2023, we had a glimpse of the end-time 'battle of the bands". For many years the Lord had been showing me the end-times contest will also be manifested in music and sound.

WHAT IS THE WORST SIN?

Of the seven deadly sins, is there one worse than the others? Yes, sin is sin, and violates the glory of God. But is there one that opens the floodgates to all the others? Without diminishing the seriousness of the others, is there one sin that sets us on a slippery slope? Is one like a gatekeeper, opening the door and inviting all the others? Is there one sin that evokes God’s jealousy?

Dream & Keys for Prayer 4 Victoria

I recently had 2-3 dreams on the one night. Various events morphed into each other. Each ‘scene’ pointed to a moral, spiritual issue threatening our seed, and the children of Victoria specifically. Human trafficking is not limited to Victoria. Targeting children impacts every nation on the planet. However, I believed the focus on Victoria, is that many roots in this state, a bit like California is to USA, impacts the rest of Australia.

CARNAL WARFARE IS DANGEROUS Part Two (WARFARE 101)

In part one we recognized that:

  • We are in a time of great spiritual and natural war.
  • Using weapons not from God are not only ineffective they are also dangerous! This is even more critical during a season of chaos, and intense spiritual and natural war,
  • We considered five carnal practices to be avoided! Sadly, used too often.

PRAYING FOR ARTS MOUNTAIN

Often the Arts are considered as a great vehicle for evangelism or for influencing culture with a Biblical worldview. Its very existence can be ‘justified’ on these grounds. These are all good.

My story is somewhat different.

CARNAL WARFARE IS DANGEROUS Part One

In a time of war
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4  NKJV)

We are in a time of spiritual and natural war—it is not a time of peace.

A time of war is not a time for church as usual. It is not a time for passivity or ease.

[Watch now...or /and continue reading]

Whether you are experienced, inexperienced or skeptical about spiritual warfare, this is not a time to sit at home getting frustrated with the daily news. Even agnostics recognize that what we are witnessing worldwide is a spiritual battle. So the only ones that can win this battle are those who are equipped with effective spiritual weapons. Every believer is needed and must engage. God’s army does not have any spectators.

Even after thirty years’ experience, I still need to be reminded of these principles, especially in the heat of battle! This article is for two groups of people.

  1. This is for those who have learnt and operated in spiritual warfare over the last twenty years. Because this is an urgent time in history, it is urgent to refresh and where appropriate, re-engage. Defense forces constantly revise and upgrade weapons training, so their weapons are well oiled and not rusty! You don’t want them to fail at a critical time! Now it is urgent to dust off any dirt or cobwebs, re-oil, and be inspired to reactivate.
  2. This is also for ere are those who have never learned about spiritual warfare. Some have not seen a reason to learn this before now. You may have been unaware, afraid, or not misunderstood what is really involved. Today, it’s urgent for you to get up to speed on these vital Biblical keys. In war zones—you either flee or learn to fight. In Ukraine right now, citizens are learning to shoot rifles, make Molotov cocktails or provide aid.

Within both groups of people, there are also those, who through no fault of their own, have flawed understanding. Some people even avoid warfare for that reason. I want to debunk some practices that have weakened the church and left many vulnerable. And I want to clarify and revise key Biblical understanding. Let’s start with these three questions:

  • Has our warfare been ‘carnal’ rather than ‘mighty’?
  • Do we ‘cast down arguments, things that exalt’ themselves against God?
  • Do we ‘bring every thought into captivity, to obey Christ?’

As Paul instructed in 2 Corinthians 10:4, effective warfare uses mighty weapons. God Himself supplies those weapons. We must use God’s weapons, not our own. We must work with heaven, not against it. We war according to the character of God, not ours. We must come in the opposite spirit, otherwise, we are “no better” than the protagonists!

IT IS DANGEROUS TO USE CARNAL WEAPONS—ESPECIALLY IN A TIME OF WAR!

Worse than carnal weapons being ineffective, carnal warfare brings trouble, and defeat. We cannot fight the devil in darkness—it is his domain and we will lose every time. The Lord’s domain is light! Fighting in the light is the only site for safe and successful Spirit-led warfare!

Whether we like it or not, once you get saved, you have an enemy. Jesus said they hated Him and would hate us too. The truth is, every believer, is in God’s military. The devil does not play nice—he is vicious and ferocious. Therefore, we must utilize the weapons the Lord has provided to successfully defeat the devil. This is especially true in a time of war. We must have an accurate understanding of who God really is. We must know the weapons He has given us, how He has equipped us and positioned us in His combat forces.

Across the globe we see hatred, jealousy, greed, and lust. Behind these are demonic powers that defy God, essentially the antichrist spirit. The gods of war are agitating to rule and annihilate millions through trauma and loss. God’s purpose is for life and revival. This is essentially what we are contending for.

SPIRIT-LED WARFARE

The starting place to contend Biblically is the principles contained within the Lord’s Prayer. These align us with the kingdom of heaven—and especially the Majestic King!

First we must ‘hallow’ Father’s name. Hallow means to revere, or give honour to. We cannot defeat the enemy unless we first give honour and reverence to our Heavenly Father’s name.

And

Spirit-led warfare will focus upon, exalt, and reflect the one the Father exalts in heaven—Jesus!

“When [the Father] raised Him [Jesus] from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church…” (Ephesians 1:20-22 TPT, NKJV)

Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, and above all the powers that are warring against the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, Spirit-led warfare will always exalt the name of Jesus above every name and throne that is causing the havoc we are resisting. Look up and focus on the exalted one. In contrast, carnal warfare gives attention to self, problems, and anything but the Worthy Lamb of God!

Second, we should align with heaven’s purposes: “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. (Matthew 6:9-10)

Spirit-led warfare will always align with the purposes of God. In contrast, carnal warfare is led by the will and desires of our flesh, and inspired by the devil!

Third, contend according to the character of God. Jesus is the light of the world. Don’t focus on darkness. Don’t contend from a position of sin, or strife. Seek to walk in, declare and call forth the light of Jesus. At creation there was chaos and darkness. But the Spirit of God hovered and fluttered over the dark turmoil. Then God said: “let there be light” or “light be”. (Genesis 1:2-4 ) In John 1 Jesus is proclaimed as both the Word, and the light, which “shines in the darkness.” (John 1:5)

Whatever darkness we are contending with, invite Holy Spirit to brood over it and proclaim the light of Jesus into it. Exalt Jesus above the darkness affecting your life, your family, your church, or nation.

FIVE ‘DO NOT’S’ OF SPIRIT-LED WARFARE

Paul’s admonition in 2 Corinthians 10:4 is that our weapons of warfare are not carnal! Rather, our weapons are from Holy Spirit.

Carnal weapons are those that originate from our human flesh! According to Galatians 5:17 our flesh wars against the Spirit. Weapons devised by our flesh resist God and align with the devil! Both our flesh, and demonic strongholds, work together to resist God! You cannot fix the flesh with more flesh! Strongholds cannot be demolished by strategies from our flesh or demons. Only Holy Spirit can provide strategies and power to demolish very strong powers that keep us bound in strife and division.

The thoughts and ways of God are very different to ours, and way above ours.

Many have developed a negative view of warfare because they have witnessed carnal or unbiblical ways of doing it. Some have been wounded by ungodly practices. It has caused some to conclude, “I don’t believe in “spiritual warfare”. Or others would rather ignore the subject, to avoid trouble. Where Paul says in Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers…” Some people seem to read it as; “we wrestle not”, and place the full stop there. End of story!

If we want to avoid tragic consequences, there are five approaches to spiritual warfare we should avoid at all costs! Sadly, these are practiced too frequently! If our warfare is to be ‘mighty in God’, if our warfare is going to successfully remove entrenched strongholds, then we must avoid these five approaches!

  1. DO NOT SEE PEOPLE AS THE ENEMY

It’s too easy to get sucked into fighting one another instead of the culprits in the unseen realm. We all need constant reminders of this reality! There are unseen forces working to destroy our destiny, relationships, families, churches and nations. Ask Holy Spirit “what is behind this?” What spiritual force is causing this? Paul warns us; “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”. (Eph 6: 12 NKJV)

  1. DO NOT WAR FROM PRIDE...

It is easy to confuse, or think we are operating in authority, when reality is its presumption, pride or even rebellion. True authority does not have to proclaim itself. True authority is just exercised. On the other hand, pride (which puffs up) will exalt its ‘authority’. James chapter 4 begins by identifying the root of all strife and wars as lust! Then he gives clear instruction in v 6-7 “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.” God RESISTS PRIDE! If we engage in spiritual warfare with a heart position of pride and presumption—we can end up doing battle with God Himself!! Carnal warfare leads to trouble—and defeat!
James then provides great advice. This is advice that our flesh struggles to accept. “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4: 8 NKJV)

Before we can effectively resist the devil, we must submit to God. It’s easier for our carnal nature to submit to the devil and resist God. The Lord’s ways challenge our flesh!
If we are not submitted to God, we are most likely in pride.
In prayer, pride will tell God how to ‘fix’ a situation! We will decide what needs to be done! What arrogance. We are not God!

Before any warfare, we must first submit to God. Come before the Lord with a heart posture of humility. Bow before Him. Submit to His will. Value His Presence. Seek His face and His voice. Brokenness before God is a positive sign that pride is breaking. Humility will embrace His discipline. Humility is willing to learn. Humility acknowledges —God knows better than me!

True intercessors and prophets, who give warning words, will do so from a position of brokenness, tears, and travail rather than from harsh judgment or finger pointing.

The next three points are really from pride—we see ourselves better than others. And of course, pride is carnal—and God hates it.

3.   DO NOT SHOUT AT THE DEVIL OR MOCK HIM

Honour is big in the kingdom—even of fallen angels. When Michael the archangel, was contending with the devil about the body of Moses, he “dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” (Jude 1:9 NKJV)

Michael the archangel did not denigrate, or mock the devil. He simply said: “The Lord rebuke you!” Dishonour will bring quick defeat. Michael left the reprimand of the devil to the Lord. We would be well advised to do the same. Prior to this verse, Jude was warning about those who reject the Lord’s government, and insult angelic beings. Accusation and abuse are the devil’s domain. Whether it’s fallen angels or authorities on earth that fall into despicable behavior, we should consider the example of Michael in how to speak about them.

4.   DO NOT CURSE PEOPLE

Jesus made it clear; we are to bless even those who persecute us—not curse them. Praying judgment on people we disagree with is very dangerous—you are in fact, cursing them. We are not God.
Cursing others is dangerous for us as well as the person being cursed. We reap what we sow! Do not rejoice when your enemy is defeated! True intercession comes from brokenness, travail and wanting redemption. God prioritizes life and redemption, not death and destruction.

5.   DO NOT CHOOSE OR PRAY THE OUTCOME YOU THINK IS BEST

We are not God! Do we know the beginning from the end? Do we know all the facts? Do we know the big picture? What is Father’s will in the matter? We must align with God. Even as the ekklesia —Jesus gave clear instruction on what we can forbid or bind. We do not get to choose what is on that list!

Remember: mercy triumphs over judgment. God wants to redeem—even despots! He has sent prophets to Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, drug warlords, and Vladimir Putin. In each case, the Lord has given opportunity for salvation. God’s heart is that all mankind will be saved.

REMEMBER THE MERCY HEART OF GOD!

God has a good purpose for you and your family. God has a good purpose for all nations, whether it’s Iran, China, Ukraine, Russia or right here in Australia and New Zealand. Using God’s weaponry, we align with and seek to advance the purposes of God, and simultaneously, to hinder and thwart demonic powers and authorities from causing destruction to God’s purposes.

Spiritual war is in the spirit realm. Let’s get our eyes off the players in our families, churches and businesses, even the governments of nations. May we understand that the effective weapons of warfare are to be used against the demonic powers and principalities—not people!

“For although we live in the natural realm, we don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which people hide.”(2 Corinthians 10:3-6  TPT)

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we honour Your holy name. Thankyou for giving us weapons of war that are powerful and mighty to pull down strongholds. We ask Your forgiveness when we have employed carnal weapons. Holy Spirit teach us and help us to only to war according to the direction of Your Spirit and according to Your Spiritual weapons. We pray in Jesus Mighty Name Amen
